Big News | Pearls Events Up North is OPEN!

It is with great excitement that I announce the Pearls Events Up North office is officially open for business! What started out as a Grand Rapids venture in 2007, has officially become an Up North venture as well.

While Pearls Events has always planned & coordinated weddings in the Traverse City area, that meant I was personally traveling to the area from Grand Rapids for meetings, site visits, and wedding weekends. Not ideal, but of course I made it work!

But, with weddings on the books in West Michigan, and a family here to hang out with on the weekends I'm not working, I'm pleased to announce that Mary will be the lead planner for all of our Up North weddings. She has been making connections in the area I never had, checking out local venues I've never been to, and researching the area like Pearls Events has always wanted to.

Mary & I go waaaaay back, and our husbands go even further. This will be Mary's fourth season on the Pearls Events team, and before that she owned her own wedding planning business, Lucky Girl Weddings. Prior to that she worked as an event planner for a local wedding venue. Mary is a joy to be around (we miss her already!) and a complete Type A wedding planner - all of her ducks are in a row. She's also a supportive wife, super-mom, and an amazing friend to all who know her. I'm so LUCKY to have her on the Pearls Events team representing us in the Traverse City area.

Hiring 2013 Interns


Each year, Pearls Events offers internships to junior & senior level students. The internship is an opportunity to work alongside our team and learn the ins & outs of a wedding planner's job from our eyes. I am excited to start the interview process for our 2013 interns.

**We will be accepting applications through February 28th, 2013 and will be conducting interviews throughout March.**

Responsibilities
• working in the office on a weekly basis to help on all on going projects
• confirming vendors via phone, assisting at ceremony rehearsal on-site
• setting up & facilitating both ceremony & reception on wedding days for our clients

Experience & Knowledge
• junior or senior in a related field
• strong verbal communication skills
• strong leadership skills
• excellent organizational skills

Personal Characteristics
• flexible & proactive
• innovative thinker & calm demeanor
• team player & energetic
• detail oriented & works well under pressure

Compensation: This is a part time, unpaid internship
Travel Required: Yes, we travel throughout Michigan. Must be available once/week to drive to our Grand Haven home office
Hours: Office hours will be set, weekend hours will vary by event

Real Events 2013 | GRunveiled

Our fourth annual GRunveiled was a complete success - even with the crappy weather we were dealt. Each year we plan this event, it always comes together. From inviting vendors to join us, to news spots where Joy'l and I invite everyone we can to get down the St. Cecilia's, it's like no other event I plan throughout the year.

Each year, I'm always afraid no one will show up - selling tickets and waiting for people to walk though the door makes my stomach turn. There is something to be said about planning events that require the public show up. Not my favorite cup of tea - I much prefer weddings where we invite people to celebrate the couple! But, nonetheless, it's a great event that I'm proud to be a part of. Here's a small sampling of the 2013 show... Thank you to EVERYONE who came, and plans for the 2014 show are already underway!
