My love affair with Laura's dress

Earlier this week, I went with Laura, an October bride, to pick up her gorgeous Carolina Herrera gown. It was from Roma Sposa in Rochester Hills, MI. We left Grand Rapids early Wednesday morning and got there a tad earlier than our appointment. They were accommodating, which surprised me. This place really made me giggle. It is super high-end and it's the sort of place that has one dress on a whole fixture. Here is my favorite shot of her from the day:
Now, I have to admit, I haven't been around high-end dresses all that much. The shops in Grand Rapids don't carry these brands. I wanted to check out the stuff at Roma Sposa, but it's not really a "browsing" sort of atmosphere. And we didn't have an appointment to shop--just to try on. I did see a gorgeous all lace Monique Lhuillier gown hanging up front, but that was the extent. Big bummer for me! But, at least we got to hit up IKEA on the way home :)

I, personally, was in no way a high-end dress gal. If you know me at all, you know I was a complete bargain bride. I ended up buying my dress online from one of my favorite vendors, NetBride for $230. No joke. My mom made me a little lace jacket out of beautiful French Alencon lace, which was my 'couture'! And although my dress was inexpensive, I felt like a million bucks all day long!

Aletha (It's blondie from the nest), my BF and our entourage went to Roma Sposa about a year ago looking for dresses. When you said it made you giggle, I can totally relate as to why. The dolled my friend's hair up with each dress she tried on, they even served us champagne!!

Anyway, just wanted to comment. Lovely blog, too.
