Carnations? Oh so fabulous!

Last night my husband and I were out for dinner, and at each table there was a bright red carnation in a clear crystal vase. I picked it up and realized that I've always thought of carnations as "cheapie" flowers, not wedding flowers. But today I came across the image of the white carnations that I've always loved from Martha Stewart. The key is to pack them in tightly AND stick with a monotone look, with no space between flower heads. I think they look amazing! Sure, they are still carnations, but gosh, aren't they beautiful?

I think it's the overflow of greenery and baby's breath that always make me squirm when I see a bundle of carnations. These are beautiful, however, Maybe the trick is to pack 'em in tight and stick to one color. Beautiful.

Ooh, I should have mentioned the "one color" trick as well! Thanks for thinking of that :)

I have often thought carnations looked beautiful when arranged tightly and monochromatically! I think I first saw the potential on an episode of Sex and the City (Aiden brought Carrie a bouquet of pink carnations...beautiful!)

That first picture is divine!

I love carnations. They're so easy to use. I agree, the one color bunch is the key to success.
