Planners, beware!
Yesterday I received my first fishy email from a prospective client. Here is the email, verbatim:From Stephen Howard
Phone +447045768057
Message:How are you doing?i just want to know if you will be available to plan my wedding coming up in May 10,2008.My Name is Stephen Howard and my fiance's name is Hannah Scifres.I works for an auto company in United Kingdom where i'm presently.I will be coming to State next month with my fiance. So i want most of the arrangement to be done before i come.I want you to be in charge of the wedding as the wedding co-ordinator except the minister that will be coming to ministry that day,all other is in your care.I am having a budget $70,000 and i am expecting a guest of 100 at the wedding.I just want a mini-wedding,it could be an indoor or out door.My company will be taking care of the wedding expenses and they will be happy to send you the first deposit payment.Let me know how we are going about it as there is not much room again. Thanks
I wanted to make all of you planners out there aware of this situation before you spent any time planning a wedding for some fake people out to scam you. Liene of The Smart Planner and Blue Orchid Designs just blogged about this yesterday here. And if you are not reading her blog, The Smart Planner, you should add it to your RSS feed today. She is full of knowledge and is sharing it with the world. Thanks Liene!!! I feel like I should be paying you a fee :)

Ugh...I hate spam!!!
Thanks for the heads up
Frustrating...some people actually spend time trying to take advantage of others...can't believe it!
Stephen Howard wants ME to plan his wedding. He emailed me three times yesterday! So did a chickie who wants a destination HINDU wedding. :-)
I had a Howard last summer who was very eager to send me money too! It so happens that I emailed back and give him info to his questions. 3 weeks later I receive $8000 in cashiers checks. I quickly called the police to see what the heck to do. They recommended to shred the checks and stop all contact. I was so weirded out! Lesson was learned...
For some reason, these "fishy" emails are arriving to my end box. I immediately report them as spam.
I can't believe I missed this post a few weeks ago! I have gotten atleast 3 of these in the last few weeks, all from people claiming to be overseas! I feel bad just ignoring them, but what a pain!
Our Company just received the same email but he was using a different name for himself and his fiance'. This time he worked for an Oil Company in the UK and his name was David Scot and his finace's name was Catherine White. The oil company does exist and he wasn't listed on the company directory so I googled the phone # that was on the email and I found this info. Please be very cautious with this guy. We received the email on June 19th.
