The rain held off yesterday and plans for the outdoor ceremony went as scheduled. Matt + Jackie were married at the gorgeous outdoor chapel at Sherman Lake YMCA on the most popular wedding day of the year, 6.7.08.
My day began at 8am as I left home and headed south to Augusta, Michigan. I stopped in Kalamazoo to pick up my friend, and assistant for the day, Sarah. We arrived at Sherman Lake YMCA at 10am and began setting up the reception room. Assembling the centerpieces, hanging wreaths, and decorating the ceremony site took a few hours, and then we took a break for lunch. We were back in an hour to pin on corsages + bouts and get everyone down the aisle.
A gorgeous spread of fruit, veggies, and chips + dip, along with raspberry punch + fresh iced tea welcomed the guests as they arrived at the reception. Guests mingled and enjoyed the gorgeous facility as the wedding party was having fun with the lovely Jen of JK Photography, and her awesome assistant, Brooke.
After dinner was served, we cut cake. I've cut many wedding cakes from my days in catering, but cutting, plating and serving 200 guests is a two-person job and I am SO glad I had Sarah with me. The cake from Continental Bakery was gorgeous and tasted just as good as it looked.
The whole day was fantastic--a gorgeous couple, amazing location and a great time was had by all of the guests. Congrats to Jackie + Matt--have a blast on your honeymoon!
