say hello to carnations

If you are a client of mine, you already know I love inexpensive carnations and the effect they have when grouped tightly together.
Earlier this week, while reading Lotus Photographic's blog, I came across another fantastic example of these lovelies. All the carnations above are by Modern Day Floral in Grand Rapids, and they are quite fantastic. The key is keeping everything packed tightly and sticking to one color per arrangement. Check out the post I wrote last December--it's one of my most-viewed.

I'm so with you on this one! I love carnations bunched like this...really most people won't even believe they are carnations because they look so chic. And, they are just gorgeous here in purple!
Yes! Love! I like those colors together. Especially the really dark color -- it's about the farthest thing from the carnation stereotype.
I have to admit when I read the title in my blog reader I thought "Oh no...not carnations" like the first time you hear leg warmers are back. After seeing the images.....who would have thought carnations could look like that?! Goes to show what some talent & a good eye can do.
Thanks for the "shout out" Aletha. These flowers were even more beautiful in person, the guests we sat with at dinner loved them too! There were little pearls and crystals pinned into the pomanders, it was all very lovely.
