What's For Dinner?
As you plan your wedding reception, you'll need to decide on what to serve your family & friends. From heavy appetizers and cake receptions to brunch and sit-down dinners, there are many variations. As you plan your menu, factor in the time of day, your likes & dislikes, and cost. Two of my favorite menus from 2008 were not-so-standard, and that is why they stand out.
Becky & Matt (above) were married on a gorgeous, Spring day last May and treated their guests to an afternoon Italian buffet. After their morning ceremony, guests made their way to Mangiamos!, a gorgeous mansion in the historic district of Grand Rapids, to enjoy brunch. The food was amazing and as you can see above, Becky sure enjoyed herself! It was my only brunch of the year, and I am already looking forward to the next.
Rose & Brian were celebrated their marriage last Fall at St. Cecilia's and worked with San Chez Bistro to cater their reception. San Chez is one of Grand Rapids' few tapas bistro, and Rose & Brian opted to have dinner served family style, which also added a social element to each guest table. The food was amazing and there was plenty to go around. The couple also served my all-time favorite cake of the year from Mirabella Confections.
Don't get me wrong - I love a great steak, and since my husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, he's happy with beef, however don't let anyone talk you into standard chicken dish if you're really craving gourmet sandwiches (like Melissa & Kyle last Fall).
Happy taste testing!

Becky - besides it showing off your toned arms, it also displays the delicious meal you shared with your guests. Perfect for this post :)
