'Maids All in a Row
Yesterday I spent the entire day with Tami, Rachel (bride above) & Jessica of September's Bride looking at the Fall 2009 lines for Spring/Summer 2010 brides at the National Bridal Market in Chicago's Merchandise Mart.
After working with several clients on their overall look & feel of their wedding, a question that arises is "long or short gowns for the bridesmaids?" Both styles are great, and while writing this post I was at a loss at what the answer was. Naturally, I went straight to the source - my fab friends at September's Bride, which also happens to be my absolute favorite bridal salon in West Michigan.
Are short gowns too casual for a formal wedding?
Tami tells me, "Basically, it comes down to overall style and time of day of the wedding and then ultimately, the bride's personal preference."
Rachel was married last summer and had a beautifully elegant, outdoor wedding. Her bridal gown was very formal and quite detailed, however by having an outdoor wedding in the warm months of Michigan, a short frock for her ladies was seasonably appropriate. And although the Lila Couture bridesmaid gowns were not full-length, they were formal because of the style & fabric choices.
