I sat down with Deanna & Ryan over a cup of coffee last Fall to discuss their wedding day. Because they wanted their moms to enjoy the day with family & friends, they hired Pearls Events to manage their wedding & reception. Working with them through the months has been great - they are so fun and have a great sense of style.

April 11th turned out to be one of the best Spring days we've had in '09. Tara and I arrived to pass out boutonnieres, bouquets, & corsages before photos. Then we set the tables with centerpieces, favors, table numbers, plus the gift table & photo booth area. Deanna & Ryan decided on black & gray linens, white china and bright yellow tulips - it was completely modern and I loved it.

The ceremony at Frederik Meijer Gardens was lead by Gust of Forever Twogether and was short, sweet and included a couple of unique elements that I loved. Deanna walked herself halfway down the aisle and Ryan met her there - which was a great entrance, in my opinion. And instead of the traditional unity candle, each of their mothers walked up front during the ceremony to make a bouquet of loose flowers to symbolize the two families coming together.

James of D. James Productions and Wade of The Shutter Booth were ready to roll when the room opened for cocktail hour as the couple & their families took their formal photos. Right before dinner, James made the wedding party introductions, and there were a few toasts, with Ryan's dad's being one of the best father of the groom toasts I've ever heard. Dinner and dancing followed and the evening flowed seamlessly.

Emily and her entire staff at Taste of the Gardens made sure everything was served on time, and the food was delicious, as always. The cake, which was made by the bride's uncle Phil, was absolutely amazing - both in design & taste. The cake toppers resembled South Park characters and I totally got a kick out of them!

Tara & I loaded up the gifts and extra cake, sent flowers home with guests, and were out the door before midnight as the bride and groom were off to their fabulous hotel room at the JW Marriott. I should have some more photos to show you later this week since Amy Carroll was there and always gets a preview together so quickly. Stay tuned...
