1950's Wedding Cake
On Monday I shared a snippet of my 1950's-inspired booth for GRunveiled. Today I'm sharing a little inspiration for the cake that will be on display that evening. On the left are my grandparents, who were married March 19, 1953. As you can see, their cake is white with lots of buttercream frosting, piping and bells(!). And although both cakes are tiered, that is the only similarity. On the right is my wedding cake from our 2007 wedding - quite simple with a modern band of color for our big day designed by Sweet Cakes Design.
One of my favorite Grand Rapids bakers, Ken Stevens of MiraBella Confections, is creating a mini version of a 1950's-inspired cake for the Pearls Events GRunveiled space. I hope you'll come by and check it out next Thursday from 6-10pm at St. Cecilia Music Center!

Cool photo of your grandparents! It's funny how I can see the similarities between them and all your aunts and uncles (and your mom!). That cake is fun! All the textures and wedding frilly-ness, maybe the beginning of a new trend... thanks for sharing!
My neighbor was just talking about this bakery today. I need to check them out for a baby shower I'm hosting...great pics!!
