Get Married in Michigan | The Barn at Prairie Winds

Amy & LD were married on one of those amazing fall days that Michigan brides dream of. Their photographer, Mindy, emailed me these images because she LOVED all of the couple's DIY details. When I looked through them, I had to agree - this couple pulled together their rustic, fall-themed wedding to a T. And I LOVE the location - The Barn at Prairie Winds Farm.

This is only a small selection of their photos. To see even more shots, check out Mindy Leigh's blog post.

Real Wedding 2010 | Ann & Kris

Working with Ann & Kris this year has been wonderful! Their Grand Haven wedding fell on the most perfect of perfect Fall weekends in West Michigan. Mary, Megan & I dropped off lunch to the hungry wedding party during photos, and then headed to Harbourfront Grand Hall to set linens, day-of stationery & favors. We were back at Grand Haven's Central Park to orchestrate the ceremony, and then after the heartfelt words by the groom's family friend, Mark Loerhke, everyone was off to the reception.

Delicious appetizers were served to guests, as the wedding party flit around town taking photos with Craig of Craig Watson Photography. When they arrived at Harbourfront, they were introduced into the room by Greg Martin of Entertainment on the Move, and mingled with their guests before dinner was served.

Cake cutting & dancing followed the delicious dinner, and the party went until the wee hours! It was an amazing night shared by family & friends of Ann & Kris. The couple was so fun to work with, and we are sad to see them become "former clients" of ours so soon.

Congrats to Ann & Kris!

Spotlight | Christine Darnell Jewelry Designs

I had the opportunity to sit down with jewelry designer, Christine Darnell, a few weeks ago, and boy, did she WOW me with her beautiful work! Over a cup of coffee, we looked at many pieces in her numerous collections, and I can honestly say that I was blown away with her exquisite craftsmanship, attention to detail, and huge variety of gems.

Christine recently started a blog and although she's currently designing jewelry for a living, her former career as an interior designer shines through in her writing, as well as her passion for architecture, fashion, travel, music and movies.

In between sips of coffee, I had a chance to ask her a few questions about her and her work, so please enjoy a little Q&A with Christine Darnell...

How long have you been designing jewelry?

I've been designing jewelry since 1999.

What is your favorite piece in your collection?

If I had to pick just one, I would have to say the Spiderweb Cuff. If I get to pick just a couple more, I'd go with the Dinosaur Bone and Pink Tourmaline Ring.

What is the most rare metal/stone/gem you've used?
Raw diamonds are the most rare stone I've ever used. They are simply gorgeous in their raw form.

How many of your clients order custom pieces?
Although I have quite a large collection, 75% of my sales are special orders for our clients.

What is your favorite item to make?
I would have to say rings, probably because I personally love rings so much. I just don't have enough fingers for all the rings I own!!!!

What is the most popular piece?
I don't have one popular piece, however I sell many items with pearls. In particular, Keishi Pearls and Corn Flake Pearls. From pearl necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings, they are all big sellers.

How do you find such unique items to use, such as these Keishi pearls?

I hand select all my gems and pearls at gem shows and I love working with people to design special, one-of-a-kind pieces for special events such as weddings and other social events.

Made in Michigan | Designs by Robyn Love

I've been aware of the gorgeous calligraphy Robyn of Designs by Robyn Love produces since Jodi of In Any Event by Jodi Bos mentioned her work to me a couple of years ago. Robyn's work speaks for itself and is worth a peek if you're looking for a unique element for your wedding details. From escort cards & thank you signs, to custom monograms & addressing invitations, Robyn's beautiful calligraphy can be used just about anywhere a fancy font is needed.

Recently, she shared her Etsy shop via Facebook, and I was so excited about her shabby chic invitations, that I wanted to share one of her favorites, above. I honestly had no idea she created one-of-a-kind invitations, and was so excited to see her collection.

If you're looking for a custom, one-of-a-kind invitation, check out Designs by Robyn Love on Etsy.

Real Wedding 2010 | Lindsay & Ryan

The weekend of Lindsay & Ryan's wedding happened to be the most ideal Fall weather - sunny, warm and gorgeous. On Saturday, Stephanie headed to Ahavas Isreal to assist with rehearsal, and on Sunday, the processional began right on time - my favorite way to start the wedding day!

The ceremony, full of Jewish traditions, was heartfelt and beautiful. The couple couldn't stop smiling at one another under the chuppah, and everyone was anxious to dance them to yichud at the end of the ceremony.

Guests made their way to the Ambassador Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza, while the newlyweds enjoyed a bit of time to themselves. I brought them the yummiest looking plate of appetizers to their hotel suite before they were introduced by Sunset Boulevard into the ballroom, and immediately began the horah.

After a lot of dancing, hamotzi, and cake cutting, dinner was served and each set of parents gave their toast. Before the photo booth opened, Lindsay & Ryan shared their official first dance. Dancing continued and the largest dessert table I have ever seen opened later in the evening. Their friends & family had an absolute blast all weekend long, and Pearls Events was thrilled to be a part of their big day!

Best wishes to our 10-10-10 couple, Lindsay & Ryan!
